PROGRAM
Post Social Media Club invites young European creatives for a programme to investigate and speculate on alternative futures. More process than result-oriented, the programme offers artists and designers an interdisciplinary journey into understanding the mark that social media has left on the world and to imagine the post-social media landscape.
Now, more than ever, in the face of unprecedented environmental, political and societal challenges it is critical to explore alternative futures and scenarios. Speculative design is one way of doing this, by hypothesising about plausible (as opposed to probable) future scenarios. This creates a space for debate and discussion on the kind of future people want and do not want, and acts as a tool to better understand the present.
This project invites 25 European creatives of mixed disciplines from Sweden, Greece, Serbia, France and Turkey to participate in a series of expert-led design masterclasses, engage in a weeklong production-based artist residency and finally host five simultaneous exhibitions across Europe showcasing alternative futures. The project is led by STPLN (Sweden) partnered with four creative hubs Volumes (FR), Nova Iskra (SR), ATÖLYE (TR) and bios (GR).
What do selected participants get
-Access to The Vortex, a four-part expert-led virtual masterclass series on the topics of Speculative Design, Design Thinking and the Future of Community Online
-Travel, accomodation and meals to/from The Lab in Malmö, Sweden
-Material and equipment during The Lab in Malmö, Sweden
-Participation in The Showcase, a final group exhibition that will be held in five cities accross Europe
